Discover Your Community Day 2024

Broadstairs Town Shed, in association with Gadds Brewery and a host of local community groups, brings you a day of activities and information celebrating all that your community has to offer.

Come along and have some fun getting involved in a range of workshops and demonstrations for all the family.  There’ll be live music from Gaddzukes and refreshments available.

If you're a local community group, charity, CIC or social enterprise and would like to join the celebration please email Helen for further details.

This proves to be a great networking day to share knowledge, experience and discover new collaborations.

Activities: come along and have a go

From the Busy Sewing Bees to the Tasty Planters team and, of course, our talented woodworking Shedders, there'll be an activity or workshop for everyone.

Other highlights include:

Jayne, from JAW Ceramics, will be delivering a drop in tile making drop in session 12-2pm.  Decorate your tile illustrating what brings you joy to become part of a cross Thanet installation.

Ellen Russell, from Sonder Arts CIC, will be joining us to deliver some textile based activities.

Visit the Shed Art Tent:

  • 12-1pm we'll be playing with gold and gilding oyster shells.
  • 1-2pm make your own mini bee hotels for the garden or window sill.
  • 2-3pm have a play with alcohol inks, you simply can't go wrong with this easy to use medium which really packs a visual punch.
  • 3-4pm we'll be making some colourful paper wreaths.

2-4pm The Tasty Planters team will be showing you how to make a simple planter, sharing seeds and  top planting tips.

There'll also be plenty going on in the Taproom.
